Embossing on Acrylic Painting....Success!

This little experiment went far better. I wanted to make sure I could emboss (for the wolf mask) on top of acrylic paint without doing any heat damage to the paint, etc. It seems to work fine.

Cuir-Bouilli Fail!!

Cuir Bouilli (boiled leather): I wanted to try this method for hardening leather by boiling and shaping it. Supposed to have been used to make hardened leather armour way back when...

I got some leather scraps and tried it. I think I must need a specific type of leather maybe as it doesn't seem to be stiffening up like I thought it would. Still, I might get some nice leather chokers out of it.

Duck on Glass

Bought a glass tile today that's slightly smoky in color and more reflective than normal glass.




























With a flash, the glass is so reflective you don't see the drawing at all.








I am transferring this old drawing I did in High School onto one side. It is hard to capture in pictures.

Yesterday's work...


Added some highlights to the bunny, filled in the last of the smoke (though probably will ad some more detail to what is there), and started darkening the bunny some more. This is hard to tell since the medium I used is so white-ish until dry. You can see it in the pic on the top.

These are a new series of 25 I just started. They are only 2"x2" each, but I plan to hang them so they are 4 to 6 inches apart so they take up a good chunk of wall....

Big, Bad Bunny (another update)

The white layer on the bunny has mostly dried, becoming clear.
I started toning down the Pepto-Bismo Pink ears and belly (thank god, I know).
Working on darkening the ground too.
Smoke is almost done, just needs one or two more colors.

Adding "depth" with a gel medium (seen as the white-ish layer on the bunny). This will dry clear, and then I will build glazes on top of it to darken the bunny. He is bad, after all...
